Rose Marks is the Winter 2007 Scholarship Winner
Rose Marks is in her junior year at the University of Florida. She is a Political Science major; her minor is Organizational Leadership for Nonprofits. Rose will be interning in Washington, DC, this fall with a non-governmental organization. Her passion is human rights. She would like to work with an organization that focuses on the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
Rose is interested in traveling and has studied sustainability in New Zealand. While in New Zealand, she spent most of her time working outdoors with project coordinators.
Rose, an accomplished figure skater, has won at the U.S. Nationals. Her status as a champion has allowed her to travel worldwide for international competitions. This, especially her involvement in pairs figure skating at the Pan American games, has fueled her enthusiasm for travel.
In her spare time, she runs 4 miles several times a week. She volunteers at several organizations on campus at the University of Florida, including the domestic abuse network, and a human rights awareness organization, and she is a peer advisor at the international center for students wanting to study abroad.
Despite her extracurricular activities, she maintains a 3.94 grade point average. An honor student at the University of Florida, she has been awarded a National Merit Scholarship.
